On the Polar Express

We've been planning on going on a train ride coined from the movie "The Polar Express". Jon can quote so many lines in the movie and he LOVES trains. We heard the Great Smoky Mountain Train company gives Polar Express rides. We were excited to go on Sat. Then it started snowing...really bad. The news said stay off the roads if at all possible. We were bummed. Then on Sat it seemed warmer and we checked it out again and decided to chance the drive. It was great until we hit the mountains, then it got pretty wet and we saw tons of cars off on the side of the road from the previous day. We were pretty cautious as we saw snow plows still working, but it was mostly drivable.
The kids wore their jammies (except Jon didn't want to change, I think it was too cold for him). We went on the train ride, set up like in the movie. They got hot chocolate, a treat, sang carols, and the servers even danced! We arrived at "the North Pole" and picked up Santa! Then they each got a bell! And if they chose, they even got their picture with Santa (except Rebecca, who just didn't feel the need to visit with Santa this year). It was so fun! Despite the 5 hours it ended up taking us, it was a cool hour and a half. It's all about memories, right?
