Creative Play

Last night Rebecca started playing she was a bird and she really wanted to learn how to fly. So, I had her read about birds and how they fly in her science book. She decided to be a bat. Well, this morning, the play continued, accompanied by her brother and sister.

They were all hummingbirds and made a HUGE nest of pillows, towels and blankets on the floor. Then they were going to lay eggs. Savannah said she wanted to lay eggs. Rebecca promptly asked, "Well, how old are you?" In which she responded, "4" (she's actually 3 but this was pretend play, so I guess that's ok). Rebecca quickly said, "Oh, well, you're too young to lay eggs!"

Then I read Jon the part about birds out of the science book to which he responded rather loudly, "I wanted to be a woodpecker!"
