Struggles

I went into Barnes and Noble, my favorite bookseller. I had to be fast while Ed was in the car with the kids...yeah, right. I forgot my cell phone in the car, so he couldn't call me to hurry up, so I knew I had to try to pick up the pace (which at times was a little slow). Anyway, I was quickly glancing around in the school section and I realized: part of my frustration homeschooling Rebecca is she knows everything I throw her way! (except in Math). I realized she needed more of a challenge, so I bought her a 4th grade Sylvan learning Reading/Vocab/Spelling book. The thought had never really occurred to me before because I'm on the school year timing frame of mind, 3rd grade until summer. Ok, so it takes me awhile to figure things out. I get in the car and showed her and her eyes lit up and so did Jon's as we all realized you learn at your own pace and if it's quicker then yep! You move on to the next grades work! They were both really excited about that. It's going to be tough getting off the conveyor belt of public education, but advancing and progressing at your own level is one of the perks of homeschooling. She worked in her new workbook today and loved it. It's more challenging for her. So she may be advanced in reading, but right now good in Math.

I had some other struggles, but since I started writing this I've forgotten them. Must not be that bad.
