Field Trips

I was somewhat reluctant to blog tonight, but obviously not reluctant enough because here I write.

Today was sooo jam-packed.  And it wasn't even planned to be that way.  In fact, this whole week has been jam packed.  I'm starting to hope ADD isn't a learned behavior, because if it is, my kids are going to get it from me.

Today was Field Trip day.  This one was actually scheduled.  We have them on Mondays or Fridays this semester, as it turns out.  But last Friday's trip to the Zoo was completely unscheduled and spontaneous because I wanted to go.  I felt justified taking the kids with me and calling it a field trip.  We rode the train, carousel and went to the petting zoo.  Then we pet the sting rays, whose stingers had been clipped :)

I knew the Zoo had these sting rays at the beginning of summer, but after having been to SeaWorld and Atlanta's amazing aquarium, it seemed a little blah.  But here, now, being the end of the summer, it was a bit more exciting.  We got to feed them too.  It was totally bizarre.  It was like a vaccuum sucking your hand.

Anyway.... Today I took the kids to the "Youzeum".  If you guessed it was a museum about "You", you're right!  There was a lot about the body and how a body works.  They dressed up like doctors and worked on a dummy.  They checked out the ambulance, saw different kinds of brains and saw themselves on TV.  There were some cool things there, and the museum will be closing in Oct for good, so I'm glad they got the opportunity to go.

That makes 3 field trips in one week.  I see many more on the horizon.

The Youzeum is apparently closing soon, so it's good you got to go before that happens.

Personally, I like the Missouri Children's Museum better, but to each his own.

I actually love the Childrens' Museum but it was my first and only chance to experience YouZeum. I'm glad we went.
