I decided to start a list of resources I'd recommend if you are thinking about or starting homeschooling. I will update it periodically as I learn more.
The Well-Adjusted Child (misconceptions about "socialization"
100 Top Picks for Home School Curriculum

Curriculum I've heard great things about:
Classical Conversations
Sonlight
My Father's World
Thomas Jefferson Education
Or you could go eclectic, which is what I felt "The Well-Trained Mind" did, create your own subjects from different places. If I did it that way, I'd do "Story of the World", "Saxon" math, "Apologia" Science, Rod and Staff grammer, and read lots and lots of classics, starting with Aesop's fables and working through the Jr. versions of classics. Somewhere along the line you'd need writing, possibly "Writeshop".
But really, for math, you have to find one that works for each child. It may be www.alabacus.com (Right start), A Beka; Math U See; Saxon; Singapore; or one within a curriculum you choose. A lot of people use Saxon and Math U See. I just got the Rightstart math and it looks awesome! Stay posted!
"Typer Island" as a learning to type program. Timez Attack for learning your times.
Then don't forget that any new skill your child learns can count as school, for example baking, sewing, constructing etc.
