I guess I attract it to me, if you believe in the law of attraction, of always having lots going on and making things happen.
Yesterday we spent all day out, looking at furniture, went to the pound to look at dogs, went to Sam's. I happened across an Ashley Furniture warehouse store closing. They had a gorgeous wardrobe/armoire I thought would be great for Becca. Great price. And she didn't like it! Said it was too much(ornate/carved) and didn't like brown. We go to Sam's and find a garage utility closet that looks like a school locker. Yeah, now we're talkin. She loved that. All righty, then. Much cheaper.
Furniture wise, I want a bedroom suite. Like a headboard and a dresser. We've lived 10 years now with no headboard and a dresser I got for $40 at a garage sale in TX. I'm trying to figure out how I can make the living room more inviting, because I want to start having people over again. And I need to get all my homeschool stuff organized, so maybe some sort of art closet and bookcases.
We didn't get a dog at the pound, but went and looked at a breeder for Cairn terriers and shihtzus. She does mixes of both with poodles too. So guess what? That's right! Mama needed a dog so she got herself a shih poo. He is sooo sweet! We brought him home today and he never barked once and just stayed by someone close (mostly Becca, whose taken him on. I guess she really did need an animal to love. She's been begging for a hamster). And he's soft and hardly sheds. I think we're going to love this dog.
In the process of moving back in, which is a process, a little bit every day and I hate it, Ed took something downstairs and happened upon a flood in progress in our basement storage room. So, thinking we could stop it, we got all the water mopped up, and it kept coming! Inches by the minute! Our friend came over and helped us put some hypoxy cement on it. It's slowed, but this is going to be bad. And right in time for the rainy season! So tomorrow I'll have to figure out how we're going to get this fixed. He pulled up the carpet and there's a big crack in the floor, but the water is probably coming from a plugged drain. It's just a mess.
So in the meantime of flood and dog, I'm taking things out to the garage and trying to empty my house a bit. It's so hard because I feel like we have too much stuff, but when you start looking at it, it's like, well, we need that camping equipment, or that boat stuff, or those books, and it gets frustrating. Nonetheless, I am purging. We got rid of an extra water softner today, and shelves and other stuff to go. I know we should have a garage sale, but I hate them. So much work.
I'm also trying to keep on top of homeschooling, which is a little difficult with all these other distractions going on. Last week sort of didn't happen much on the education side. I don't know what I was thinking, thinking we'd get back after being gone all winter and start right into routine 2 days later! We needed some get reacquainted time with our house and stuff and unpacking (which we still have some to do, but at a stand still without bookcases or a basement to put them in). We did minimal, a math page a day, a history lesson a few days, and some reading along the way. This week I have my planner and am scheduled. I am now part of the JCHE coop and am getting communication emails for the group. That has made a huge difference! I've gone from being alone to finding my support! It's SOOOOO great just to know what's going on. I'm excited to meet people and participate. The ironic thing is there is a dog training education class for 5-18 year olds coming up in March and we just got a puppy!
Now I just wish it would stop raining until our basement is safe.

You got a dog!! How are the kids liking him? Bummer about the flood!!! Jason and I learned a lot about epoxy cement on drains when we were living in the old lady's guest house... it never seems to work! lol, especially without having time to dry properly. Hope you get it fixed soon!!
