Fabulous vacation

So, I guess, for us, a real vacation is isolated on (or near) a lake with a boat and a beach.  What else do you really need?  Nearest town (and I mean, maybe population 1000) is 10 miles away.  The kind of vacation where you truly do spend time together doing the outdoor thing, or whatever indoor thing you bring for down time, or in the event of rain (puzzles and games, dvds).  And despite the down time (which, at times, can make you scream) you really do have a great time! Of course, having my brother and some cousins there made it that much more fun.

Beach time

Sammy seeks shade.

Uncle Dan makes a fabulous sand castle

Things go smoothly, until they don't

Becca rocks out on skis

Chillin'

Rebecca earned a Girl Scout badge for Small Craft, so of course, Jon had to learn to drive too.  In all reality, he will probably end up the best driver in the family (in a few years).

Cliff jumping!

And what you don't see are the puzzles, cards, games, dvds, books, naps, dinners, the mens' many failed fishing expeditions, or the womens' saving grace trip to Walmart (30 min away; smallest Walmart I've ever seen) to get, you guessed it, the forgotten swimsuit for one of the kids.  And of course, they were all out of girls' swim suits so she got boys' trunks and a tank.  make do or do without, right?  And we couldn't have her doin without ;)

Now we've been home for 2 days...resting from vacation.
