First Tournament

Last Saturday we went to our first Tae Kwon Do tournament in Kansas City.  We had soo much fun! 

At the tournament, it was a bit crazy getting there and registered and figuring out where we were supposed to go.  But once we figured it out, it was no big deal.  And even fun! 

The kids were actually just finishing their orange belts, but went registered as camo so that they could spar.  You have to be camo to black belt to spar.  They did really good!  And they really liked it. 

Jon went first.  They put them in groups for age, belt rank and size.  I kind of thought, later, that it would have been great for him to just compete orange belt.  He probably would have placed then.  As it was, he was the lowest ranking belt, but the experience was good for him.  Now he knows what to expect next time. He got to spar and did awesome.

Rebecca amazed me!  She's such a small, quiet girl.  She did her form really well.  Then when they went to spar, she was a firecracker!  Punch, punch, punch, kick, kick; before they even knew what happened!  And she liked it?  She was actually really good at it and took third!  Go Becca!

But unfortunately, I don't have any TKD pics of her yet.  But here she is picking cotton!

And Savannah was really young for it, but had a fun time and she brought home the trophy!  (the older 2 got medals, but the Tiny Tigers got trophies!)  The kids couldn't believe she got a trophy. 

When we went to our next class, Savannah received all her gear for sparring and sparred the first time last night.  She loved it!  She said she was so excited to "fight".  Huh?  But she looked so dang cute in her stuff.  And little too. 

Of course, here's the leader of the pack.  He had a good time too. :)

I'm happy for my children and our family.  I'm happy they have found something that they ALL like!  And we can do together as a family.  And it's fun!

We made it a mini vacation, visiting Union Station's, Science City, American Girl and we even saw Santa!  He wished us a Happy Thanksgiving.
