Blizzard aftermath

Seriously, what would I do without internet on a snow day.  I've actually been able to post a few things!  I'm so glad my electric and phone work, despite the blizzard we had yesterday.

When we woke up this morning the furnace wasn't working.  It was trying to, but only for a few seconds.  Fortunately, it was only 63, but we were cold!  The kids have space heaters in their rooms, so I wasn't worried about them, until I found out Rebecca hadn't turned hers on.  Oh well.

Ed looked in the instructor's manual (a rare occurrence), and he actually figured out that the exhaust for the furnace must be blocked outside by snow, and that it had an automatic shut off.  So he removed it and reset the furnace.  :)  Yay. heat.  I was a teensy bit worried about having to use space heaters the rest of the day and night while he was at the hospital.  Thank goodness that wasn't the case.  He amazes me *sigh*

Then he went to work shovelling the drive way at 7am.  I let him shovel.  I know.  I should have gotten out of bed and helped, but I was cold, and the blankets were comfy, and I was going to do it later, when he was at work *wink*  No, really, I was.  As it turns out, all roads were snow plowed, except cul-de-sacs.  He contemplated driving in the 2 ft of snow 300 yards to the street that was plowed.  But we really didn't think that would be a good idea.  He got ancy, and was ready to start shovelling the road.  I was like, just relax.  By the time you get shovelled space for 2 tires the snow plow will be here.

And it did come, eventually, at noon.  But hey, it came.  And now we have mountains of snow, and the road is actually melting really fast!

Here's a pic of my neighbor's house.  The snow plow actually plowed snow over their drive way, and other neighbors' too.  I think he must have respected us for the fact that our drive way was clear, just waiting to get out, because he did not block our drive with snow.

This is our house.  It's kind of hard to tell, but it's about 2.5 ft high.  That may not be high for some, but it was plenty high for us.  But as you can see by the drive, it's melting pretty quick.

Here Jonathan and Rebecca are playing with a neighbor.  Jon's on the left.

Jonathan riding the snow bank.

And Savannah.  What do you do when you're sick on a snow day?  Yeah, me too.  Watch tv that is.  In this case, "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs".  Well, that kind of goes with cloudy and a chance of blizzard ;)

We have it good though, living in town.  Makes me rethink my desire for country living.  (but not that much).
