Ground Control, first edition
In an effort to keep you updated with our family, we bring you “Ground Control”, a newsletter that helps keep us grounded, because sometimes we are up in the air. We thought we would do it on the blog, but have a family edition as well, because, let's face it, not everything should be online ;)
Here are our stories:
Bella's potty trained! We are a no more diaper household!
Go Go Go Cart
One of the anesthesiologists Ed works with had a go cart that sat in his garage for 5 years, and sold it to Ed. Ed had to do some carburetor work on it, but it is running and the kids ride it in circles in the cul-de-sac! Good times.
Happenings
Eye Exams: This week Rebecca, Jon and Savannah all had their yearly eye exams. I am pleased to report that Jon and Savannah have perfect vision, and Rebecca’s prescription has changed very little. She hopes for contacts in the near future, but she may be waiting a year ;)
Tae Kwon Do testing
Ed, Becca, Jon and Savannah all passed their tae kwon do testing. They are getting close to their black belt. Becca and Jon are red, Ed is brown and Savannah earned her purple headband to go with her purple belt.
Pinewood Derby
Ed and Jon have worked many hours this week on Jon’s Cub Scout Pinewood Derby car. It is sure to be a fast one!
Library art
Rebecca, Jon and Savannah all participated in a library homeschool program where they learned about sculpting, collages, photography and still life, and brought home projects to show it.
Savannah Strikes a Pose
And shows us how it’s done!
Books Read, Things Learned
Rebecca has read these:
39 Clues #3, Emily Windsnap #3, The Revolutionary War (a You Choose book), A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Tempest (both abridged) by Shakespeare. Jon is currently reading “FISH” a book on pirates. We continued study on the Revolutionary War, Betsy Ross, John Paul Jones; also ocean animals.
On Tuesday, we went bowling with Freedom Knights and Just Us Girls clubs, the history clubs, that meet at our home twice a month. Not everyone was there, but everyone who was had a blast. I'd post a pic of the 16 kids, but I'm not real big on posting pics of other people's kids.
Joke of the week: What gets wetter the more it dries? A: a towel.
