Week in Review randomly

Aside from the regular activities (girl/cub scouts, Freedom Clubs, Dance, piano, tae kwon do)

ART
Grandma and Grandpa Duree took the kids to the library art card program. The kids have been really into this craze from Switzerland. They make cards and trade constantly with their friends. It’s a fun creative outlet for them (and mom).
We have also been busy making and signing Valentines and making boxes to exchange with friends this week.

Savannah: so sweet and innocent

Don't let her fool you. She is going through a very rambunctious 5th year of age. She is very loud and runs everywhere. She is into things and always finds a way to get what she wants. Like, climbing on grandpa.

FIELD TRIPS
We went on TWO field trips this week! We visited the State Highway Patrol Museum. We saw lots of old police cars, a memorial wall to fallen officers and a train simulation.

Our second field trip was to Orscheln’s, a farmer’s store, where they talked about the practical uses of many items sold in their store and let the kids plant seeds. We will go back in April to see the chicks and rabbits.

We learned that the Book It Pizza Hut awards for reading can be used for either personal pans, OR lunch buffets. We had a BOGO for lunch and thus spent $7 to feed our family!

Hazel Takes a Ride
I received a phone call, shortly after arriving at girl scouts, that a cat emerged from under my car as soon as we went in the building. I went and discovered that, sure enough, our cat had ridden on the udner carriage of the expedition a couple miles to the meeting place…and she survived! What a relief. Truly, a cat has 9 lives.

ALSO in the news…
Bella delights in telling stories about how she has a mermaid tail and swims with Ariel and Flounder in the ocean.

Becca has had lots of iPod time outs. She got an iPod Touch for Christmas and keeps watching Netflix! I know, right? She gets internet. It's like a little iPad. A friend recently told me she regrets everytime they get a new technological thing in their home. Ugh. We have started unplugging our internet, and voila! She appears. I have to confiscate it at night too. Really, we bought it for her music and books (because she can connect to my Nook account). Sigh. A work in progress, figuring out how to parent technology.

We have been valentine crazy, making valentines for friends and boxes. The kids' Freedom Clubs are having a Valentine Day party and the kids are really excited. I think the Freedom Clubs are turning out to be so fabulous. Not only are the kids gaining confidence in public speaking, learning new things from their peers and getting fun playtime, but I get to visit with so many of my wonderful friends! I think we all leave feeling edified. We parents need friends too! And who doesn't like an excuse for a party, and we have lots of those. It's turning out to be a great thing for our family and for those like-minded individuals who participate with us.

Jon’s Joke: What was the Sycamore tree’s problem? It was sick.

Jon also read "Who Was Harry Houdini" who said these words of wisdom: “No performer should attempt to bite off red-hot iron unless he has a good set of teeth.”
