This week was very busy for me. I had something to teach everyday, but fortunately, they weren't terribly difficult lessons. Monday there was Liberty Girls (an American Girl club) at my home. Each time the girls have read about one of the American Girls. This time was Samantha, from 1904. So we talked about the World's Fair in St. Louis, ice cream, iced tea, played with tin can phones and Old Maid, and made calling card boxes and cards to put in each other's boxes.
Later that night was Jon's Blue and Gold Cub Scout Banquet. He received several belt loops, and will be awarded his Bear badge at the next meeting.
Tuesday, our homeschool coop started, and I taught some geography and language development from the story of Peter Rabbit. Then we had dance right after. Busy day.
Wednesday we had our taxes done after piano lessons. Good and bad. Our accountant suggested we keep a money journal, like a food journal, to see where our money is going, and suggested going on many less vacations. Boo. And scheduled us for a 6 month follow up for accountability on money management. Boo. But good. Necessary, I suppose. Bleck.
But Jon and Ed celebrated by going fishing and caught us dinner :)
I had a playdate for Savannah on Thurs morning. It was so fun for both of us. We often have a house full of people with various activities we do, but she's been the neglected playdate child. The kids had a great time. I'm going to do it much more often. That girl loves her friends, even at 5, and Bella did too.
That playdate ran into our Freedom Clubs. Which was fine. We LOVE our Freedom clubs, the Just us Girls, Freedom Knights, and Firecracker Kids. The girls meet upstairs, the boys on the main level, and all kids under 7 downstairs. And everyone has such a great time! It is by far the best activity we do. They are always so excited to do their presentations, whether show and tell, 5 min or 20 min activity. AND, the moms are always so excited to see each other too! It's just as good for us, with a purpose ;)
Friday we went roller skating in California, MO with some friends. Good times.
Saturday we went to a wedding, which is always fun. And Sunday we visited with some friends. Good times with both activities for a fun filled weekend.
Today was a great school day. I'm going to try to have a subject focus. Math, reading and piano everyday, then we did our week's worth of History focus today. Tomorrow Science, Wed piano, and Thurs language. I have some friends doing this and it's working well for them. I'm hoping it will help some of my schooling mulitple ages schedule.
"It’s not so much how busy you are, but why you are busy. The bee is praised. The mosquito is swatted."
Mary O’Connor
Hopefully, I can be more like the bee raising good people who will contribute well to society.
