Charleston, SC

We decided to go to Charleston over the 3 day weekend since we are so close. Charleston has always been a place I've thought about it but never thought I'd actually go. It was rainy the first day, but the next 2 were gorgeous. Bella got an ear infection, of course, so that took half a day at Urgent care, but once she got her meds she was in a better mood. There's so much to do there! And what a great place of history! Fri night we got there and went swimming. Then we started Sat with a carriage ride of the historical section. Would have been a bit better with a few blankets, but fun for mom, anyway. Later we went to the Childrens' Museum, which of course, the kids LOVED. Then we retired to our hotel.

Bella didn't sleep well so we spent half of Sun at the clinic, then went to Patriots' Point and went to the top of a carrier and through a submarine, both used in WWII. This is on top of the carrier looking down at the planes on the ship. The game "Battleship" took on a different meaning for Jon and Becca.

This was inside the carrier, i.e. the food court.

That was pretty cool, with Ft. Sumter in the background. Notice the dolphin fin in the harbor.

Mon we went to Magnolia Plantation, which was my favorite place. It was gorgeous, even in the winter. We took a tram ride around the 500 acres of has been rice plantation and saw at least 4 alligators and other wildlife. They had a petting zoo with turkeys and deer! I've never seen a tame deer before. One of them followed Jon around. And we toured the slave cabins, which was a bit of history all on its own.

After Magnolia Plantation we did everybody's favorite thing by going to the beach. Loved, loved, loved, loved the beach, and the weather was great!

Of course, throughout it all we ate TONS of excellent sea food. My kids now love crab. It was a great time.
